ADOPTING A COMPANION
AARF Rescue adoption fees are based on the age of the dog:
- Baby – Under One year old $ 350.
- Young – One to Six years old $ 350.
- Adult – Seven to Nine years old $ 250.
- Senior – Ten years old and up $ 200
AARF Rescue charges an adoption fee of $180 for a kitten or cat.
We are a not-for-profit organization and all of the adoption fees go directly to the veterinary care of our animals.
We are entirely staffed by volunteers and therefore there are no paid organization members. Many dogs and cats we bring into our rescue are in need of medical care in addition to the regular series of shots and spay/neuter. Such medical care may include ear infections, blood tests, surgeries, dental work, grooming, just to name a few. Each animal is vetted according to their specific requirements. However, all animals are up-to-date with their vaccinations including rabies, neutered/spayed, heartworm tested, flea treatment, and micro chipped.
Adoption Process
Adoption is a lifetime commitment and we at AARF want to ensure the adoption process is taken seriously. If you have any further questions regarding the adoption process please don’t hesitate to contact us at deannaaarfrescue@yahoo.ca
First: Complete our online Adoption Application
Second: Your application will be reviewed by AARF to determined if it is the best match with the requested dog’s personality and requirements. If so, your references will be contacted. Please make sure you inform your references so they know AARF will be contacting them.
Third: Upon approval of your application and reference verification, we will call you to set up a meet and greet appointment. Please make sure all members of the household both human and canine are present during the meet and greet.
Fourth: After the meet and greet and if both the rescue an you feel that it is the right match, then a home visit is scheduled. Please ensure that all members of the household are present during the home visit.
The Fine Print:
When AARF rescues a dog, we feel that it is our responsibility, to both the dog and the potential adopter, to make the best possible match. With this in mind, we do everything that we can to gather enough information to ensure a permanent adoption. Completing an application does not guarantee approval to adopt from our rescue. AARF Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of animal to anyone who they believe cannot or will not provide an appropriate environment for the animal. We may receive several applications to adopt a particular animal. When that occurs, we chose the application which seems the best fit with the animal’s needs and personality. We do not process adoption applications on a first come basis.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT ADOPT OUT OF PROVINCE
